Go Wild!
Drive to the lush jungles of Royal Chitwan National Park, one of the finest wildlife reserves in Asia. Chitwan is home to the Royal Bengal tiger, the one-horned rhinoceros, leopard, sloth bear, and an incredible variety of other fauna and flora. You are not required to drive vast distances. Accompanied by a trained naturalist/ guide, view the wildlife close-up and undisturbed, perched atop an elephant, seated in a dug-out canoe, on foot, or in a vehicle. After completing your safari adventure, return to Kathmandu.
Grade: "Gentle". See one of the last remaining primeval forests that once covered the Indian Subcontinent. This is a small, compact jungle though largest in Asia. Please refer to our Trip Dossier for gear requirements and best times for wildlife spotting. Group size: max 15 min 2.
Bardia National Park is Smaller then Chitawan National Park, but houses the same exotic animals and jungle environment. Daily flights and public buses from Kathamndu to Nepalganj are the access to the park. The park office is situated 20 Km southwest along the Highway. There are lodges and resorts, but as Bardia is more isolated than Chitawan and has fewer visitors they are not numerous. But this also adds to the excitement of exploring this jungle. All resorts are at the border of the park and numerous jungle activities are available. Elephant rides are the best way to explore the jungle and search for wildlife. Jeep safaris are also available, while others might enjoy a jungle walk with an experienced guide who can tell you all about the wildlife and vegetation that is unique to the Terai region.
