MODERATE TREK - The Arun Valley is one of the unexplored, marvelous and less touristic trekking regions in Nepal. This trek follows the route of the Arun River located between two giant mountains. Best time to travel - September to May.
Embarking on our journey begins from Kathmandu, the city with the remarkable architecture dated back to 16th Century. Our team representative will welcome you at the Tribhuwan International Airport and escort you to your designated hotel. Our representative will help you to check in to the hotel. You will be welcomed, facilitated and served with a beautiful hotel room. The first arrival day is entirely a break day. In the evening, you can walk around nearby touristic hubs like Thamel and Basantapur Durbar square.
Kathmandu valley is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors. The valley offers a wonderful mix of Hinduism and Buddhism. After breakfast we visit UNESCO world heritage sites as one of the largest Hindu temple Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddha Stupa and Swoyambhunath Stupa followed by Kathmandu Durbar Square sightseeing. Overnight stay at hotel.
After breakfast we board on a flight to Tumlingtar, eastern region of Nepal. This is the place from where our trek begins. Landing on a steep mountain runway brings us the excitement for the trek in Tumlingtar Village. Even during the entire flight, we can enjoy the panoramic sights of great Himalayas of Nepal including Mt. Everest (8,848m), Mt. Makalu (8,463m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8153m), Mt. Lhotse (8,501m), Mt. Lhotse Shar (8,393m), Kanchenjunga, Gaurishankar, Ganesh, Langtang etc. After reaching Tumlingtar we trek ahead towards Kartikighat. Overnight stay at camp/ tea house lodge.
We start our trek via BalwaBesi village, where we cross Arun and few other rivers and lush tropical forests. The route further takes us towards Marduwa, a small hamlet village where we walk through terraced fields and clusters of ochre and cream mud-brick houses built in a typical local style. We get to Gothe bazaar after some walks via Nepali Danda (hill) and Irkhuwa River. The settlement is inhabited by Gurung and Rai communities. Overnight stay at camp/ tea house lodge.
En-route to SalpaPhedi we pass through some beautiful villages such as Lankuwa and Dhobani. Dhobani is renowned as a village of paper makers. Crossing Lankuwa village we continue hiking uphill for few hours more which is accompanied by undulating grasses rocks and fruit trees until you reach the sprawling settlement of SalpaPhedi. The trek will continue further uphill through many dwellings of upper SalpaPhedi facing amazing views down the valley. It takes us several hours of scaling to reach Jau Bari, a village where the best barley in the entire region can be seen. It also offers a Sherpa Gompa (monastery) just below a lovely Sherpa-run campsite. Moving ahead, we walk across the terraced fields and rhododendron forests to Salpa Lake and to Gurasne or Chayaksila, where our day ends. Overnight stay at camp/ tea house lodge.
After leaving Guranse we follow the trail to Sanam. On the way we come across the SalpaBhanjyang, which is the border of Solukhumbu and the Sherpa region. In addition, we also witness the wonderful views of snow-capped Karylung Peak, LidungKhola and the traditijonal Sherpa villages. Overnight stay at camp/ tea house lodge.
Leaving pleasant en route destination, Sanam, we continue our trek along with the broad views of Duire (Tiu) – a group of simple lodges, Rustic Gompa. En route we also encounter a beautiful place, ,Rai village at Gudel which is big and also very interesting bustling traditional village. Overnight stay at camp/ tea house lodge.
Today we trek for a longer time in comparison to other days but the effort definitely does not go waste. Beautiful forests and terraced land fields, Rai villages and schools make the entire journey very interesting. We stay overnight in Kiraunle where Chamaling Gompa is located. Surkie La Pass is our en route point which needs to be crossed just after some walks through the ancient moss-covered chortens and mani walls on the ridge and beautiful rhododendron forest. Incredible views of Karylung, Khatang and Numbur mountains can be witnessed as soon as we move up through the narrow pass ridge. Overnight stay at camp/ tea house lodge.
Yet another fantastic day begins with the climbing of NajinaDingma. The path further makes us descend through GaiKharka, several villages and ImjaKhola. On the way to Pangum we can also see Mera Peak looming in front of us. Pangum has few nice lodges, Hillary school, fields marked by wooden fences and a Tibetan Buddhist Gompa off to the northern side of the village. Incredible view of sunset is visible over the wide-open valley with Karylung rising majestically across the DudhKoshi River. Overnight stay at camp/ tea house lodge.
On the route we come across long rows of old Mani walls, hilltop villages of Buspa, Kari khola and Khari la pass. It takes us another good hour and a half of contouring and climbing to the crest of 3,075m but the views are amazing from the top. We also have the first view of the sacred Sherpa peak, KhumbuYulLha (Khumbila), Gyachen Kang and KusumKangaru just around the corner. Overnight stay at camp/ tea house lodge.
After breakfast we follow the trail to Lukla where we cross the suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi River and descend through rhododendron and pine forests to reach Lukla. We encounter many Buddhist villages and their prayer flags on the way to Lukla. The route keeps us engaged with beautiful scenery of mountains, hills, forests, rivers, traditional villages etc. Overnight stay at camp/ tea house lodge.
We walk a little more down for our flight to Kathmandu. Upon reaching the Kathmandu airport, a guide or team representative will transfer you to the designated hotel. In the evening, you have free time for refreshments and shopping. Evening farewell dinner will be organized at Nepali restaurant with cultural program. Overnight stay at a hotel.
This is the last day of your visit. You can enjoy shopping and buying souvenir to friends and relatives. We will drop you to the airport 3hrs prior to the departure time.

Your contract is with Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels. A contract exists between us when we have confirmed you on our tour / hotel booking / or any other travel related services of your choice and we have received your booking request and deposits. All correspondence/s in respect of Tours / Travel Service bookings should be addressed to Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels.
For the services contracted, 40 % advance payment should be made to hold the booking on a confirmed basis and the balance amount should be paid before commencement of your tour. We hold the right to decide upon the amount to be paid as an advance payment, based on the nature of services and the time left for the commencement of the services.
Payment can be made by Bank Transfer, Cash payment to our office or by Demand Draft / Cheque. All payments should be free and clear of any withholding tax and deduction. Bank charges, if any, for remittance (by remitting bank or by intermediary bank) would be strictly borne by payer.
Tour once commenced will strictly go as per the itinerary finalised. In case of events and circumstances beyond our control, we reserve the right to change all or parts of the contents of the itinerary for safety and well being of our esteemed passengers.
In case of cancellation of tour/travel services due to any avoidable/unavoidable reason/s we must be informed in writing. Cancellation charges would be effective from the date we receive letter in writing and cancellation charges would be as follows:
Please note – Irrespective of above mentioned cancellations slabs – in case of cancellation of tour services after the booking is made with us – a minimum 10% service charges would be applicable.
In case you cancel the trip after commencement refund would be restricted to a limited amount that too would depend on the amount that we would be able to recover from the hoteliers we patronize. For unused hotel accommodation, chartered transportation and missed meals etc. we do not bear any responsibility to refund.
Where as in case of Cancellation before the commencement, it will take atleast two weeks time to refund the said amount.
Please note that after the finalization of the tour/service cost, if there are any hikes in entrance fees of monuments/museums, taxes, fuel cost or guide charges by the Govt. of India, the same would be charged as extra.

Our rates are based on the prevailing rates as negotiated by us with the hotels, airlines etc. Hotels and Airlines retain the right to modify the rates without notice. In case of such changes the rates quoted before the modification, can be changed by us according to the modifications by hotels or airlines. All hotel bookings are based on usual check in and checkout time of the hotels until unless indicated in the itinerary.
We shall not be responsible for any delays & alterations in the programme or expenses incurred – directly or indirectly – due to natural hazards, flight cancellations, accident, breakdown of machinery or equipments, breakdown of transport, weather, sickness, landslides, political closures or any untoward incidents.
We shall not be responsible for any loss, injury or damage to person, property, or otherwise in connection with any accommodation, transportation or other services, resulting – directly or indirectly – from any act of GOD, dangers, fire, accident, breakdown in machinery or equipment, breakdown of transport, wars, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, pilferages, epidemics, medical or custom department regulations, defaults, or any other causes beyond our control.
We do not have any insurance policy covering the expenses for accident, sickness, loss due to theft, or any other reasons. Visitors are advised to seek such insurance arrangements in their home country. All baggage & personal property/s at all times are at the client’s risk.
To travel to India from overseas countries except for the citizen of Nepal & Bhutan, one needs a 06 months valid passport and a valid Visa. And processing of Passport and Visa are not included in the tour cost.
Any person who has a contagious disease is forbidden to travel, any person found during the tour with such a disease will be asked to leave the tour and will have to make their own arrangements to return home.
